Commercial Road Transport (CRT) sector covers companies whose main business is goods transport on the road, predominantly with heavy duty vehicles. Globally, the Commercial Road Transport sector holds the key to successfully decarbonizing our economies. And reducing its CO2 emissions fast is BOTH critically important for reaching the world's climate targets AND allowing Shell to continue to generate value with our customers. The CRT organisation will serve all customers involved in heavy duty transport and work in close collaboration with truck OEMs and logistics providers to orchestrate the transition to new energies.
What is the role?
The China CRT Business Development Manager will be a part of an exciting new organization focused on steering Shell's interaction with Commercial Road Transport (CRT) customers and partners in China.
This team will be responsible for setting and delivering Shell's strategy for the CRT sector in China. Working along side colleagues in other departments, the CRT China team will be challenged with building a thriving business which helps CRT customers move through the energy transition.
The successful candidate will report directly to China CRT Team Lead and will be responsible for leveraging Shell internal & JV network as well as building strong strategic partnerships in the CRT industry, including CRT site operators, CRT cards providers, CRT OEMs, and New Fuels players in order to successfully deliver the company aspiration for China.
On a day to day basis, this role will be responsible for identifying and evaluating business opportunities in the CRT space like CRT network, road ports, CRT services, aggregators, China’s one belt one road ambitions, etc., with an eye toward decarbonization efforts in the sector, for eg. new fuels like LNG and H2. The role will act as the deal lead for any large strategic initiatives pursued under the Team Lead China with support from the other business development managers on the team.
What we need from you?
The ideal candidate has acted as a deal lead or in a BOM capacity in prior roles. At a minimum, she/he has participated in business opportunity evaluations, business development activities and/or Merge & Acquisition type of projects. The role requires solid knowledge of the China Commercial Road Transport Market, China Retail market or Fuel Cards space. Having a strong commercial acumen, and the ability to deal with white space is a must as the scope of the role will change as the business plans develop. We are trying to put together a team with diverse experiences, who are passionate about starting a new business within Shell.
More specifically, the following requirements are must haves:
Ability to speak, read and write Mandarin Chinese at native level and fluency in English.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree education, an MBA is an advantage.
Substantial experience in commercial road transport deal making and joint venture partnership.
Significant understanding of the evolving China Commercial Road Transport Market, China Retail market or Fuel Cards space
Perseverance and ability to cultivate strong positive working relationships internally and externally to get things done.
