About this role

Business Overview

BlackRock’s Risk & Quantitative Analysis (RQA) group provides independent oversight of BlackRock’s fiduciary and enterprise risks. The Enterprise Risk team within RQA oversees those risks which directly impact the corporate entity (i.e. BlackRock, Inc., or one of its subsidiaries), rather than the fiduciary risks assumed by funds/clients, such as investment risks and counterparty risks. The team’s focus includes but is not limited to: operational risk, technology, vendor, model and market risk, stress testing for market risk and the quantitative estimation of capital adequacy requirements.

Operational Risk Management

The Enterprise Risk function remains closely engaged with the evolving regulatory environment and supervisory expectations, to ensure that BlackRock’s internal risk and control frameworks remain consistent with these, and to coordinate regulatory initiatives from an RQA perspective (for example, capital and liquidity assessments).

The Enterprise Risk function works with Finance, Compliance, Internal Audit and other control-related teams to ensure an integrated, efficient and complete approach to the risks and controls of the firm from an enterprise standpoint.

The global Operational Risk team within Enterprise Risk is responsible for all aspects of operational risk, including error investigation and resolution, new product and business change risk assessments, risk reporting / analysis and the maintenance and development of the operational risk framework, including facilitation of risk and control self-assessments, risk profiling and risk indicators.

Responsibilities:

The role is for an Operational Risk Analyst in the Enterprise Risk team who will have the responsibility of supporting the global teams in production and review of Enterprise Risk Reports.

Contribute, and assist the APAC, EMEA and US Enterprise Risk team, to
Support production and review of periodic and ad-hoc Enterprise/Operational Risk Reports for senior management, boards, risk committees, business engagement meetings, other risk & control functions, etc., based on thorough analysis.
Contribute to enhancing existing and proposed risk reports
Ensure high data quality of the risk database (Archer) on a periodic basis, drive and achieve improvement (where required) in data quality
Support the upload / maintenance of static data, as well as risk & control self-assessments on risk database (Archer)
Act as a backup for other members in the global reporting team and for APAC Enterprise Risk team
Support global and local Enterprise/Operational Risk initiatives and projects, plus other ad-hoc projects, working with global Operational Risk and RQA counterparts to ensure global best practice and consistency where possible.
Support documentation of risk management procedural guidelines
Support reinforcing of Enterprise Risk culture

Skills and Experience
Ideally 2-3 years’ experience in Financial Services (preferably in operational risk management)
Demonstrated skills in application of VBA/Power BI for MS Excel to automate reports would be highly desirable
Graduate degree/ MBA
