How we got started
When I studied for my MBA at INSEAD, I frankly did not know what sort of career I really wanted. Should I go back to banking, go into "industry", or follow what most people around me considered THE career of choice, a strategy consultancy?
Lots of great companies were coming on campus, but I kept thinking many more were missing. On top of that, many sounded the same (like most candidates sound the same!).
I felt I was seeing only the tip of the iceberg while I needed access and transparency to a larger picture in order to identify the right career and corporate fit for me.
I ended up "playing it safe" as a strategy consultant at McKinsey!
It was a great experience, although in hindsight, the MBA Development Program offer I had from Lilly could have been equally rewarding.
Fast forward a couple of years, and I was on the other side of the table, first hiring associate consultants for McKinsey, and later tempting a different group of MBAs to join a healthcare start-up.
Both times the challenge of identifying and attracting the right talent was painfully clear to me.
For both candidates and employers, there was a need to create a marketplace to connect top talent with great employers across the world. And so MBA-Exchange.com and Careernomics.com were born, one focuses on MBA students and alumni, while the other focuses on other Masters students.
